Memorial of Remembrance – 30th to 31st October

30 Oct 2021

At the time of All Saints (1stNovember) it is traditional to remember those who have died. Since the Covid pandemic began we have had limited opportunity to say goodbye to our loved ones due to restrictions, so we have decided that this year, we will hold a weekend of events on the 30th and 31stOctober, with a particular focus on those we have lost to covid. One of the events planned is a temporary Memorial of Remembrance – hearts, to which the names of those who have died can be added and hung along the hedge on the church lawn (inspired by the wall of hearts memorial at the Embankment in London). It will remain in situ for two weeks, before being disposed of prayerfully. St Mary’s church grounds will be open from 10am on Saturday 30th until late evening, and from normal service time on Sunday 31st until 5pm. Materials will be left outside to enable participation at any time over the two days.
