St Mary's Notices - Sunday 9th March 2025

All-Together Worship at 10am and Evening Communion at 6pm

For the first Sunday of Lent, our intergenerational morning service will be about Jesus being tempted in the
wilderness, as told in Luke 4:1-13. We'll discuss wilderness and fasting and explore what the three temptations tell us about Jesus and how they are relevant to us today, with optional activities to engage with.

In the evening, we will also be exploring the theme of Temptation. The readings are Psalm 91 and Luke 4:1-13

This week through the passages of Exodus 34:29-end the radiant face of Moses, and Luke 9:28-36 the
Transfiguration, we are exploring how we reflect God’s glory.

St Mary's Notices - 16th and 23rd February 2025

Sunday 16th: Morning Communion at 10am and Worship with a Classical Flavour at 6pm

At our morning service we'll be thinking about what are the true blessings in life, the things that are important to us. The readings are Psalm 1 and Luke 6:17-26 and there will be a children’s group during the service. On Sunday evening we welcome back Jeremy for our first Worship with a Classical Flavour of the year. This month, our theme is ‘True Blessings’ as we reflect on the readings. Please invite friends and family to join us for a short service at 6pm followed by refreshments, after which there is a half hour concert of music to enjoy, ending around 7.45pm.


Sunday 23rd: Morning Worship at 10am and Evening Communion at 6pm

There will be a children’s group in the morning, and at both our services this Sunday we will have an advocate speaking on behalf of one of our charities, Hope Against Cancer. Readings are Genesis 2:4b-9, 15-end and Luke 8:22-25.

All-Together Worship at 10am and Evening Communion at 6pm
At our morning service we'll be exploring the story of Jesus calling Simon Peter as told in Luke 5:1-11 and the themes of trusting God and following Him, with opportunities to engage with the story in different ways.
In the Evening we will be reflecting upon the calling of Isaiah and Simon Peter, and relating these to our calling by God.

All-Together Agape at 10am and Evensong at 6pm
Come and join us for All Age Agapé this Sunday morning as we explore the story of Jesus' presentation at the temple. Jesus' name carries a special message for God's people. In our Evensong service, we will also explore Malachi 3:1-5 and Luke 2:22-40 but in a little more depth.

Morning Worship at 10am and Evening Communion at 6pm
This week we’re thinking about the message of good news for everyone that Jesus brings. Readings are Nehemiah 8:1 3, 5-6, 8-10 and Luke 4:14-21. There will be a short talk about our charity this month, Inter Care, at both services and the children’s group will be meeting at the 10am.

St Mary's Notices - 19th January 2025

Morning Communion at 10am on 19th January
This week Jeremy Caddick, Dean of Emmanuel College Cambridge, will be preaching for us. Emmanuel College are our patrons and it is always delightful to have Jeremy come and visit. Do join us in welcoming him as we worship together. The readings are Isaiah 62:1-5 and John 2:1-11 and there will be a children’s group during the service.

Note, there isn't a 6pm evening service at St Mary's this Sunday. Instead please join us at All Saints Thorpe Acre at 6pm for the Loughborough Churches Partnership United Service.
The guest preacher is the Rt Revd Saju Muthulaly, Bishop of Loughborough. Please come along to worship with other churches from around Loughborough in this annual service, coinciding with the week for Christian Unity. It only happens once a year and is a great chance to worship and meet with other
Christians from across the town.

Join us at 10am and 6pm as we think about the meaning of baptism, look at the baptism of Jesus, and reflect on living as God's family. Readings are Isaiah 43:1-7 and Luke 3:15-17, 21-22.

Sunday 5th January 2025: All-Together Agape at 10am and Evensong at 6pm

Join us at 10am and 6pm as we celebrate the start of Epiphany and the arrival of the three wise men to greet Jesus. We will be studying Isaiah 60:1-6 and Matthew 2: 1-12. At the 10am we will be sharing together in the Agape meal of bread and juice, giving thanks to God for signs of his presence amongst us.

St Mary's Notices - 8th December 2024

All-Age Christingle at 10am
Please bring your family and friends of all ages to our interactive Christingle service. Make sure you remember your own orange to create a Christingle, as we share the light of Jesus and spread a message of hope. There will be a collection in aid of the Children’s Society at this service. The reading is John 1:1-9.

Evening Communion at 6pm
Please join us for our evening communion service, serving as an evening of calm in what can be a busy time for all. Readings are 1 Samuel 2:1-10 and Luke 1:39-56.

St Mary's Notices - 1st December 2024

All Together Agape at 10am and Advent Carols at 6pm
Join us at 10am and 6pm as we celebrate the start of Advent. Over the next few weeks we will be working our way through the start of Luke’s gospel beginning this week with Luke 1:1-25. At the 10am we will be sharing together in the Agape meal of bread and juice, giving thanks to God for signs of his presence amongst us. At 6pm there is the first of our ‘special’ services – Advent Carols which will include a selection of readings and meditations along with extra hymns and carols. We hope to end with refreshments and would be grateful for donations of mince pies and shortbread. Please invite family and friends to come along as we celebrate the start of the Advent season.
