St Mary's Notices - 8th December 2024

All-Age Christingle at 10am
Please bring your family and friends of all ages to our interactive Christingle service. Make sure you remember your own orange to create a Christingle, as we share the light of Jesus and spread a message of hope. There will be a collection in aid of the Children’s Society at this service. The reading is John 1:1-9.

Evening Communion at 6pm
Please join us for our evening communion service, serving as an evening of calm in what can be a busy time for all. Readings are 1 Samuel 2:1-10 and Luke 1:39-56.

St Mary's Notices - 1st December 2024

All Together Agape at 10am and Advent Carols at 6pm
Join us at 10am and 6pm as we celebrate the start of Advent. Over the next few weeks we will be working our way through the start of Luke’s gospel beginning this week with Luke 1:1-25. At the 10am we will be sharing together in the Agape meal of bread and juice, giving thanks to God for signs of his presence amongst us. At 6pm there is the first of our ‘special’ services – Advent Carols which will include a selection of readings and meditations along with extra hymns and carols. We hope to end with refreshments and would be grateful for donations of mince pies and shortbread. Please invite family and friends to come along as we celebrate the start of the Advent season.

St Mary's Notices - 24th November 2024

Sunday 24th November 2024: We hope to see you up at St Mary's for Morning Worship at 10am and Evening Communion at 6pm.
Join us at 10am and 6pm as we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King, the culmination of the church year. We will be exploring the kingship of Jesus through our readings from Revelation 1:4b-8 and John 18:33-37
There will be a short talk by our charity advocate for Loughborough Child Contact Centre at both services, and a children’s group at the 10am.

St Mary's Notices - 17th November 2024

Sunday 17th November 2024: Please join us up at St Mary's for Morning Communion at 10am.
We will celebrate our Dedication Festival, 136 years since the first service in the building! We’ll be
giving thanks for God’s faithfulness in the past and looking forward with hope and trust in God’s future guidance.

There will be a reminder of our Church Vision and the priorities we have identified to 2026, as well as a short update on the Minster Community process.

Readings this week are 1 Peter 2:1-10 and John 10:22-29.

St Mary's Notices - 10th November 2024

Remembrance Sunday 10th November, 5pm and Evening Communion 6pm
Join us at 5pm this Sunday evening for a short Act of Remembrance around the memorial followed by refreshments. At 6pm we will celebrate Evening Communion together, with a focus on how the love of Christ overcomes hate. Readings this week are 1 Timothy 2:1-6 and Matthew 5:43-end.

Please note there is no 10am service this week at St Mary’s, instead we are encouraging people to support the town parade and service at the Carillon tower in Queen’s Park. The parade will start from the Market Place at 10.20am and make its way through the town centre to the Carillon, where the service will start at 10.50am. The service will be led by The Reverend Elizabeth York, Lead Chaplain, Loughborough University, Chaplain to Royal British Legion, Loughborough Branch, and The Right Reverend Saju Muthalaly, Bishop of Loughborough.

St Mary's Notices - 3rd November 2024

All Together Agape at 10am and Evensong at 6pm
On All Saints Day we look at how God’s love changes the world. The Readings this week are Revelation 21:1-6a and John 11:32-44.

Bereavement Service at 4pm
This service provides an opportunity to remember and give thanks to God for our loved ones, and to draw strength from the hope that is at the heart of the Christian faith. During the service there will be a moment to light a candle and to write the name of your loved one on a card for prayer. Afterwards, please join us in the Chapter House for tea and cake.

Morning Worship at 10am and Evening Communion at 6pm
All are welcome at our morning and evening service this week as we explore the gift of God’s word and how often we refuse to "read the manual" or try and make it say something different. Readings this week are: 2 Tim 3:14 - 4:5, John 5:36b-end. At both services this Sunday we will have an update from Soar Project.

St Mary's Notices - 13th October 2024

Harvest in the Barn at 10am, Home Farm Nanpantan,
At 10am, all are welcome to join us for our annual Harvest in a Barn service, which will take place as usual at Home Farm. (From church, turn down Woodhouse Lane and look for the driveway on the right). There will be a service in the barn with activities for all ages, followed by an optional trail through the walled garden
at Nanpantan Hall and up to St Mary's where there will be tea & cake for everyone! Parking is available at Home Farm. Please bring your own chair and wear clothes suitable for the weather – warm layers advised!

Harvest Communion and Songs of Praise at 6pm.
Then at 6pm, please join at St Mary’s as we celebrate Harvest and Creationtide with a service of readings and favourite hymns. Please invite family and friends to both services, all are welcome!

St Mary's Notices - 29th September 2024

Morning Communion at 10am and Evening Worship with Prayers for Healing at 6pm. This week we complete our journey through the letter of James, thinking about building one another up through prayer. There will be a children’s group during the morning service, and the opportunity for receiving prayers for healing in the evening, and anointing with oil. This week’s readings are James 5:13-20 and Mark 9:38-50.

St Mary's Notices - 22nd September 2024

Please join us on Sunday 22nd September for our services of Morning Worship at 10am and Evening Communion at 6pm.

Earthly or Heavenly Motives? As we continue our journey through the letter of James, we think about the choices we make and the motives that lie behind them. Readings are James 3:13-4:10 and Mark 9:30-37.

There will be a children’s group during the service and both services will feature an update from on the work of local charity STEPS.

St Mary's Notices - 15th September 2024

This week we continue exploring James. In Chapter 3 we are reminded that following Jesus affects how we use language for his kingdom. Readings are James 3:1-12 and Mark 8:27-38 and there will be a children’s group during the service. Everybody is extremely welcome.
