St Mary's Notices

Take a walk through the woods at St Marys and uncover more of the nativity story. Around the woods are silhouettes of parts of the story with opportunities to hear more by scanning a QR code and watching or listening to part of the story before moving onto the next one.

Listen to our virtual choir sing 'Like a Candle Flame' for the 20th December Carol service. Thanks to Matt for compiling this!

Another chance to follow our Lessons and Carols service on YouTube and listen to Adele's reflections on Mary and Joseph's experience in the stable and the questions that challenge us today. Which reading means most to you and which carol inspires you?

In all the busy preparations for our different kind of Christmas please take a moment to pause and find stillness with God. We are encouraged to place ourselves, thoughts and concerns in his hands.
‘Be still and know that I am God.’ Psalm 46:10

This week's advent candle is for joy and these words from the Message version of Psalm 33 are good to reflect on as we put our trust in God.

'We’re depending on God; he’s everything we need. What’s more, our hearts brim with joy since we’ve taken for our own his holy name. Love us, God, with all you’ve got – that’s what we’re depending on.'

In these troubled times, during Advent let us remember that God is not only with us but wants the best for us and is encouraging us on as we continue to put our trust in him. The candle to be lit this week is for peace.

See the link below for full details of our Christmas events and activities as we look forward to and celebrate Jesus, Light of the World, coming into our lives. First we have advent carols and then Christingle zoom!

As Advent commences we prepare for the coming of Christ first as a baby, and then to his promise of coming again as King.
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” Rev 3:20 NLT

Chris York the Coordinator for Project 5000 sends St Marys a message of thanks for our continuing support with non perishable food and toiletries.

We are reminded that Christ is in charge of whatever we are going through with the hope that we find renewed energy and strength in all we do in the days to come.

We are invited to bring our brokenness to God that He may shape and restore us in these difficult times so that treasure can be found in our mended scars.

Thank you for all donations so far - keep up the good work! Project 5000 is now up and running (serving meals outside) and giving out food parcels. The Monday 'Bible Buddies' have decided to take this onboard, and we are asking for donations of non-perishable, non-alcoholic foodstuffs. If you would like to contribute, in the first instance please contact Caroline using the email link below.
