Part-time Assistant Administrator (Maternity Cover)
8 hours per week, £12.60 per hour
We are looking for people with a passion for organisation, who could support the Vicar and Churchwardens in effecting the smooth running of St Mary’s and pursuing our vision to grow in depth of faith, follow Jesus in offering loving service and in helping others come to know God for themselves. We hope to find one or two people who will share that vision and work together with other volunteers to continue to develop our ways of working to be effective and in compliance with external requirements.
Both roles could be covered by the same person.
Closing date for applications: Friday 12th September 2025

St Mary’s is a friendly and welcoming church on the south-western edge of Loughborough. Our building is small but, rather like the Tardis, conceals a lot that is going on!
On an average Sunday we have around 70 worshippers across 2 services. We also run various midweek activities both on site and in the community.
We are blessed with well-maintained buildings, including a Chapter House for small meetings, and the beautiful church woodland both of which are in regular use for church activities as well as external bookings.

In line with our diocese, the Kingdom of God is our vision. With God’s help we want to grow in depth of faith, to follow Jesus in the loving service we offer to those around us, and in helping others come to know God for themselves.
As part of our unique identity, we celebrate and want to make good use of our woodland, encouraging care for God’s creation, creative talents in music and the arts, and the small and friendly size of our worship area.

Our priorities to 2026 are:
-
To improve the hospitality and accessibility of our building and site,
-
To support and grow intergenerational worship and engagement with children and families,
-
To encourage wellbeing and good mental-health in partnership with other groups and agencies.
We are looking for someone who could support the vicar and church wardens in effecting the efficient and smooth running of the church and parish in pursuit of that vision.
Could that be you?
Parish Administrator (Maternity Cover)
16 hours per week; £15.45 per hour;
5 weeks paid leave pro-rata, plus bank holidays.
Fixed Term Contract, ending January 2027
The role covers a wide breadth of areas, including administration, communication, and governance support. However, you will not be alone! Working closely with the Vicar, you will have the support of a part time Assistant Administrator (8 hours per week) as well as many other church volunteers - Churchwardens, Treasurer, Safeguarding & Electoral Roll Officers as well as members of the Finance and Fabric teams.
We have good systems in place - ChurchSuite, Expense Plus and Microsoft 365 - and a recently refreshed website using Wix. Don’t worry if these particular programmes are new to you - a willingness to learn, confidence to explore, and motivation to encourage others is more important. We hope that you will be able to lead us in using the capabilities of these systems well and as appropriate for the church.
We don’t have a parish office so the role will be based at home but with regular meetings in the parish. Travel expenses to a max of 20 miles round trip will be paid by the PCC.
An Occupational Requirement exists for the post-holder to be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.
