As we come to grips with ever changing plans to be with loved ones in some way let us hold onto the central message of Christmas that Christ is born and God is with us.
‘Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.’ Luke 2:14

Take a walk through the woods at St Marys and uncover more of the nativity story. Around the woods are silhouettes of parts of the story with opportunities to hear more by scanning a QR code and watching or listening to part of the story before moving onto the next one.

In all the busy preparations for our different kind of Christmas please take a moment to pause and find stillness with God. We are encouraged to place ourselves, thoughts and concerns in his hands.
‘Be still and know that I am God.’ Psalm 46:10

This week's advent candle is for joy and these words from the Message version of Psalm 33 are good to reflect on as we put our trust in God.

'We’re depending on God; he’s everything we need. What’s more, our hearts brim with joy since we’ve taken for our own his holy name. Love us, God, with all you’ve got – that’s what we’re depending on.'

In these troubled times, during Advent let us remember that God is not only with us but wants the best for us and is encouraging us on as we continue to put our trust in him. The candle to be lit this week is for peace.
