St Mary's Notices - 11th February 2024

Please join us for All-Together Worship at 10am and Evening Communion at 6pm this Sunday. The readings this week are 2 Corinthians 4:3-6 and Mark 9:2-9 – the story of the Transfiguration. We’ll be exploring
the gospel reading at both services – in a more interactive way in the morning and with communion at 6pm.

Eve Piano Trio Concert – REARRANGED for Friday 9th February 7:30pm at St Mary’s

If you feel like enjoying a relaxing and uplifting evening with music and refreshments, the EVE Piano Trio will be presenting a concert on Friday 9th Feb at St Mary’s. Playing classical favourites including Haydn’s Gypsy Trio, movements from Schubert’s beautiful Piano Trio and seasonal music - including music from the Nutcracker, the Skaters’ Waltz and more! The concert starts at 7:30pm and tickets are free, but as space is limited, please book in advance (details are in the newsletter). Everybody welcome - please support our concert and church by donating at the end – thank you!

St Mary’s Ladies Meeting – Tuesday 6th February at 10:30am

6 Feb 2024

The St Mary’s Ladies Meeting will take place on Tuesday, 6th February at 10:30 am. This will be a planning meeting for the new year. We will continue to support the Food Bank and the current list of requirements includes Sugar, Coffee, Toothpaste, Toilet Rolls, Biscuits and small tins of Tomatoes, Beans, Meat and Vegetables suitable for a single person. All donations are gratefully accepted. Please contact the parish office for details of the venue: admin@stmaryincharnwood.org.uk. New members are always welcome.

Everyone is very welcome to join us for All-Together Communion at 10am and Evensong at 6pm this Sunday 4th February. The theme of this week’s service is ‘Kingdom Culture’ and the readings are Isaiah 25:6-9 and Matthew 6:25-34.

Table Talk – Wednesday 31st January at 12pm

This group warmly invites anyone who would welcome some company whether they live alone or not. It is a lovely opportunity to meet together to share lunch and chat. Mossy Church - Moved to the FOURTH Saturday of each month

Starting from this month, Mossy Church is moving to the 4th Saturday of every month (3pm-4.30pm). Therefore the next Mossy Church will meet on Saturday 27th January at 3pm.

Loughborough Churches Partnership United Service – Sunday 21st January at 6:30pm

Please come along if you are able, to join in this annual opportunity to worship together with people from other churches across Loughborough. This years’ service is being hosted by Loughborough Baptist Church, and we recommend you arrive in time to park at the Beehive Car Park. The guest speaker is Phil Knox, author of Story Bearer and The Best of Friends. He is passionate about making Jesus known and seeing communities thrive. Please note there will be no evening service at St Mary’s this Sunday.

St Mary's Notices - Sunday 21st AND Sunday 28th January

Please join us for our All-Together Communion service on Sunday 21st January at 10am. This week we’ll be considering two more ‘callings’ – that of Jonah and of the first disciples. There will be a children’s
group and opportunity to share in communion together. The readings are Jonah 3:1-10 and Mark 1:14-20.

Next week (Sunday 28th January), Morning Worship will take place at 10am and Evening Communion will be at 6pm (both with an Advocate slot). As we celebrate the Presentation of Christ at the Temple, we’ll be thinking about the role of older people in encouraging others to praise and worship. The readings will be Malachi 3:1-5 and Luke 2:22-40. There will be a children’s group during the morning service and an update about Intercare at both services.

Tower Group Meeting – Friday 19th January at 8pm

The next meeting will be at the Forest Gate (i.e. the Toby Carvery on Forest Road) this Friday. We start between 8pm and 8:15pm. All men are welcome to join us over a drink and friendly discussions about work, St. Mary’s, local issues, and people’s interests. Monday Morning Group – Monday 15th January, 10:15am at Loughborough Grammar School

Our first meeting this year is at the Grammar School Computer Labs for our annual technology briefing. Previously we have been entertained by virtual reality, amongst other topics, and this year we’re expecting to take a look at artificial intelligence (AI). Don’t be put off - it’s not just for computer buffs and all ladies and gentlemen are welcome!
