About Sundays

Sundays at St Mary in Charnwood, Nanpantan

We have three Sunday services, within which we worship God, teach the Bible, encourage and care for one another and pray for the needs of the world. All of these services (except for the All Age) last for about an hour.

Sunday Mornings

Holy Communion Service

A service which includes hymns, Bible readings, prayers and a sermon and during which we receive communion or a prayer of blessing.

Morning Prayer

A quiet and reflective service which includes hymns and a sermon but we also hear from one of the charities we support, as a Church.  There is then opportunity for 10 minutes to listen to music and pray and contemplate – a very welcome oasis in a busy and noisy world!

All Age Services

As the name suggests!  An opportunity for the whole Church family to stay together to worship God.  A more informal service which includes Christian songs, Bible readings, prayers and a short talk. This lasts about 40 minutes.

Sunday Evenings

Evensong

A traditional service of hymns, prayers, Bible readings and a sermon.

Holy Communion

A service which includes hymns, Bible readings, prayers and a sermon and during which we receive communion or a prayer of blessing.

Worship with a Classical Flavour

A short service including hymns, prayers, Bible readings and a sermon followed by refreshments and then a recital by the guest musicians.

Midweek Services

Tuesday Evening Prayers

From 7.15pm – 7.45pm each week, we meet to read the Bible and pray for the world, the Church, for others and for ourselves.

Monthly Lunchtime Service

On the last Tuesday of the month, we meet at 11.30am for a short service followed by a light lunch. This is usually a communion service.
